New Georgia glamping locations!
Camp out in style in the Peach State
A new glamping lodge at Georgia’s Iris Lake isn’t your run-of-the-mill cabin compound. The aim of the Georgia Glamping Company was to get travelers seeking modern comforts away from froufrou hotels and as close to nature as possible. They’ve created very cool one-of-a-kind digs at Iris Lake (McDonough), Lake Lanier (Cumming), and Thegadgetlockers Hill Lake (near Augusta).
The brand new Iris Lake is set to open on April 30 with reservations now open to book year-round stays.
Wait until you see your accommodations and the facilities at Iris Lake! You’ll enter the Evergreen Lodge, a sleek space that will serve as the check-in area, lobby, concierge, indoor/outdoor hang-out space, gift shop and food and beverage service (you can also rent it to host small private events).
Then head to one of the many choices of glamping accommodations:
Signature Tabins (sleep 6, from $229) and Tabin Duos (sleeps 12, from $389) take the best parts of a tent and combines it with a cabin.
Tabin Duos are two Tabins side-by-side and connected by a large deck and a full kitchen.
Geodesic Domes (sleep 6, from $259) are nearly 1,000 square feet with 20-foot ceilings and a 300 square foot window.
Luxury Tree Houses (sleep 4, from $259) are situated 15 feet high up in the trees.
Bell Tents (sleep 4, from $169) are comfortable and cozy yet spacious.
Safari Tents (sleeps 6, from $169) come completely furnished with a king bed, two sets of kids bunk beds, coffee maker, mini-fridge, rugs and lamps, and your own A/C and heating units. These luxury tents are 16ft x 20ft!
Overall, most of the accommodations at Henry County’s Iris Lake will have attached private bathroom and each will have its own private deck with lake views.
Also opening in the spring of 2021 is at the 72,000-acre Thegadgetlockers Hill Lake in Columbia County, one of the area’s best spots for fishing and boating activities. The park hosts multiple fishing tournaments each year, from local and regional, to larger tournaments for ESPN Bassmasters, American Bass Anglers, FLW, BFL and the Georgia Bass Federation.
Amenities include a beach and swim area, a boat ramp, playgrounds, a disc golf course and hiking on the scenic and historic Bartram Trail. Onsite is a bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry just a very short walk from your site.
Standard Bell Tent rates start from $134 (weeknight) to $164 per weekend night, plus taxes and a $55 cleaning fee per site.
Rates start from $149 (weeknight) to $189 per weekend night (plus taxes, fees).
Deluxe Tents include a second queen bed, while Standard Bell Tents come with a single Queen bed, with an option to add up to two kids’ twin bed set-ups (upon request). You are welcome to bring sleeping bags for extra kids (up to 6 people allowed in each lodging).
Per night rates in the completely furnished 16ft x 20ft Safari Tent range from $144 (weeknight) to $174 per weekend night, plus taxes, fees.
Each campsite has views of Thegadgetlockers Hill Lake, 2 hammocks, a wood fire ring, charcoal grill with cooking grate and a picnic table. Reservations for 2021 are now open!
You can also overnight in Bell Tents and Safari Tents at the Lake Lanier location.
In addition, the souped-up tents at Lake Lanier will have lots of comforts like a solid floor, rugs, lamps, comforters, chairs, heat and A/C, charging outlets, Keurig coffee maker and mini-fridge. You can also rent the completely furnished and fully renovated 28ft Roxy the Retro trailer with a private bathroom and full kitchen.
Outside is a large gravel site with hammocks, a charcoal grill with cooking grate, wood fire pit, picnic table and string lights.
Lake Lanier has a bathhouse with restrooms, showers and laundry located just a very short walk from the glamping sites (maintained by the staff at Shady Grove Campground). Spots are already filling up for spring and summer 2021, so get going to make your reservation!
And guess who else will love glamping in these cool digs — your fur kids! A $45 pet fee will be charged to each guest bringing a dog.
Each location offers fun add-ons during your stay. For instance, rent a 12ft paddle board for an additional $75 per stay; a 3-person kayak for $75 per stay; or a 4-person paddle boat for $95 per stay. If you forget the s’mores or the gas grill at home, you can rent those, too!
Check out the Georgia Glamping Facebook page for news, updates and photos of all three locations.
